Presentation

It is the SRFC’s highest decision-making body and it brings together Ministers in charge of fisheries of the different member countries. The Conference of Ministers is chaired by each of the Member Countries for a two-year term, on a rotational basis and by alphabetical order following the French name of each country. It meets once every two years in ordinary session and in extraordinary session, whenever the need arises.

Mandate

The mission of the Conference of Ministers is to set up the organization’s political orientations by specifying its goals for sub-regional cooperation and giving directives on all issues related to the exploitation, preservation and conservation of fishery resources in the Sub-Region. Its Chairperson performs a political leadership and supervisory function, and ensures that the decisions taken by the Conference of Ministers are effectively implemented.
